Bleeding and in Agony
While Woody lay bleeding on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds, his agony can clearly be heard in the voicemail message he left for loved ones, wherein he can be heard to groan in pain and plead for help. His pain must have been increased by the police moving his arms to handcuff him when his right elbow was shattered. He was bleeding heavily since at least one of the bullets had pierced his aorta, and the rug was becoming saturated with blood. The message indicates that Phyllis Woodring came to him to give him care and comfort within 2 minutes of the shooting.
As detailed in the timeline, police reported shots fired at 10:14, and the ambulance was on the scene at 10:16, but Woody was not in the ambulance and enroute to the hospital until 10:37.
