Brattleboro
The church in which the shooting occurred is located in West Brattleboro, just three miles west of the center of Brattleboro. With a population of only around 12,000, Brattleboro still ranks as the largest town in southern Vermont. Originally chartered in the 1753, it flourished in the late 18th century with a gristmill and sawmill on the Whetstone Brook, and thrived through the 19th century as a trade center.
